Astronomy on Tap: Hubble Trouble & Radioflash out of the void (online from Groningen)

Join us on Monday 7 September for the September edition of Astronomy on Tap Groningen (online). This edition will have as guests Nikki Arendse and Roy Smits.

Nikki Arendse works as a PhD fellow at DARK, at the University of Copenhagen. Her research topic is cosmology; the science of understanding the origin, evolution and large scale structure of the Universe, with the ultimate goal of making predictions about its future. She will talk about a crisis in cosmology that emerged recently and that questions our understanding of the Universe.

Roy Smits has done the groundwork for pulsar research with the Square Kilometer Array and has worked on several international astronomy projects. His first popular science book was recently published, titled: 'Telescopen en tijdmachines' ('Telescopes and time machines'). The title of his talk is  'A radio-flash out of the void'

Come join us to enjoy the entertaining talks and have fun participating in our always popular quiz. Don't forget to bring your drink of choice and enjoy! Hang out with us in the chat, ask the questions you always wanted to know the answers to and come along after the talks to our "virtual pub" to talk directly to the speakers and the astronomers of AoT Groningen!
